At South Staffordshire College we are keen to strengthen our links with local schools to ensure that young people in our region are aware of all the options available to them after finishing school.

Our school engagement team would love the opportunity to work in partnership with your school to support you with your career’s strategy through the delivery of a wide range of activities, workshops, tours, presentations, and taster events. We can deliver at your school or would love to welcome you and your students to come into one of our colleges.

14-16 EHE Provision

Services for Schools

Free impartial careers guidance – our dedicated IAG team can arrange individual meetings with any of your students that are struggling to make a Post 16 decision or want advice on how they can progress towards a specific career pathway

Campus Tours and Visits – we regularly host visits from schools throughout the year. This provides a fantastic opportunity to view some of our facilities and find out what it would be like to study with us. (Rodbaston, Tamworth, Lichfield, Torc and Cannock).

Attend Careers Fayres / parents evenings / deliver assemblies – We can bring South Staffordshire College to you to showcase to your students and their parents the range of opportunities available with us.

Industry specific talks – our expert tutors have extensive industry experience who can come into your school to share their knowledge. These talks provide an insight into specific careers / industries and offer advice to students on routes they can take to get their dream career.

Apprenticeship talks – our dedicated apprenticeship team can attend your school to talk to your career’s lead / students about apprenticeship opportunities.

Taster Days – During February Half Term we offer free ‘have a go’ taster sessions in a wide range of subjects for Year 10 and Year 11 students. Find out more.

Interview Days – we can help support you with developing the interview skills of your students

SEN (Special Education Needs) – we have a dedicated team that can support SEN Schools in similar ways

School Curriculum Enhancement Courses – we can offer discrete groups based on an hourly rate, to attend some hands-on activities in college or bring some activities to your school!

Higher Education (HE) – our HE team can attend your School and deliver assemblies or talks to tutor groups.
CPD / Training for teachers

We’re are able to offer level 2 courses which can be studied via distance learning. These courses are free when completed within 12 weeks.

Courses are available in the following categories: children and education, health and wellbeing, business and IT, care and customer focused.

We also offer a variety of nationally recognised CPD sessions which can be studied online.
Technical Awards KS4 Schools and Academies

We can offer a DfE approved vocational Technical award (in almost all curriculum areas) for schools and academies for your KS4 to run through during year 10 and 11.

The qualification is equivalent to GCSE and the DfE awarded points are for schools to claim upon your pupil’s successful completion. Offering a vocational qualification alongside your GCSE school offer will enhance your pupil’s options and career paths. All our qualifications have progression routes available with us.

SEND Schools

With our specialist SEND team we can liaise with your school to determine your needs and create a bespoke learning programme for your pupils to enjoy at one of our colleges. All vocational areas are available for hourly/daily, or more, to attend and work towards a variety of outcomes. We can assist your RARPA, deliver a unit of your main inhouse qualification, source a relevant qualification or indeed work with you with targets or experiential learning.

South Staffordshire College has an amazing SEND provision based at Rodbaston called ‘Futures’ that assist and manage our SEND school provision and can offer fantastic progression pathways at all of our colleges in a variety of supported learning environments called ‘Routes’.

Elective Home Educated (EHE) Provision

Young people can apply to come to college as part of our 14-16 EHE provision whilst they are school curriculum age of Year 10 and 11. These College places are subject to the young person meeting interview requirements.

School is not appropriate for all young people and varying reasons and situations sometimes cause disruption in school life and a fresh start is required. College can assist schools and parents in finding fresh starts for learners. We treat every applicant as individual and are happy to talk to you about this provision for you to consider if it would be appropriate for the young person. We liaise with school and/or other agencies to accommodate and support our Y10 and Y11 learners.

We currently host EHE provision at our Rodbaston, Cannock, Lichfield and Tamworth Colleges

Within our EHE vocational courses, all learners are required to study both GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics. However, please note that this is not available for learners who are on a role school.
