Our countdown to the Staffordshire County Show 2018 begins!

The extremely popular County Show will be returning to the Staffordshire County Showground on 30th and 31st May 2018 and South Staffordshire College are delighted to once again be supporting the event as the main corporate sponsor. A highlight in Staffordshire’s events calendar, the annual event welcomes tens of thousands of visitors each year and promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family.

With the event now just weeks away staff at the college are busy putting the finishing touches in place for this year’s event. To the delight of many, the ever popular ‘Animal Zone Experience’ will be returning along with a range of fascinating creatures, from rabbits, guinea pigs and owls to snakes, spiders and lizards.

Located in the Country Pursuits area of the showground, visitors to the Animal Zone marquee will have the chance to meet the Animal Zone’s keepers and find out all about their favourite species, get up-close to the animals in the interaction sessions and much more. There will also be the chance to win free Animal Zone tickets and VIP Experiences with fun competitions such as ‘Guess the weight of the tortoise’. The winner of this year’s Animal Zone quiz will also secure a free ‘Junior Zoo Keeper’ Experience – a brand new experience for 2018! From the cute and cuddly to the wild and wonderful, there will be something on offer for animal lovers of all ages!

Life in the fast lane…
Also located in the Country Pursuits area, the College will also be giving people a taste of a career in the motorsport industry with their ‘pitstop challenge’ competition. With the clock ticking and the help of the College’s expert motor vehicle staff, have you got what it takes for a career in the fast lane?

On the College’s main stand (F79), guests will be able to have a go on the college’s cutting edge tractor simulator, put their riding skills to the test on the horse simulator and even try their hand on their CNC lathes.

There will also be a host of activities delivered by the College’s Adult and community learning team including photography, art and design and guitar. For younger guests, there will be the chance to join in with craft activities such as kite making and potting plants too. Completely free of charge, the family friendly activities are the perfect way to experience a taste of some of the hundreds of part time short courses on offer at South Staffordshire College at dates and times throughout the year.

For green fingered visitors who would like some handy hints for their garden, the College’s expert horticulture and countryside management staff will also be delivering ‘Gardeners question time’ sessions at various times throughout the show. There’s no need to pre-book, simply come along to stand F79 at 11am, 1pm or 3pm.

For businesses who want to explore how to upskill their workforce, recruit fresh talent or boost their productivity, the College’s dedicated Employer Engagement team will be on hand to offer advice on the full range of business development services available. From bespoke training and short NPTC accredited courses, to apprenticeship recruitment services and much more, the College have a proven track record with hundreds of businesses.

Staff from the college will also be on hand on the main stand (F79) to offer advice and guidance on the extensive range of courses and apprenticeships available school leavers and adults alike. From full time programmes designed for those who want to take the first steps towards their chosen career, to university level qualifications and higher apprenticeships for those who want to climb the ladder, there is something for everyone at South Staffordshire College.

The Staffordshire County Showground is situated on the A518 Stafford to Uttoxeter Road, just four miles from Stafford.
