Prevention and Control of Infection – Level 2

  • Is this course for you?

    There are many viruses and bacteria that impact on our work as professional in the Health and Social Care sector, building knowledge and awareness of the prevention and control of infection. It can also be undertaken by individuals who would like to develop a knowledge of infection control and prevention.

  • Required qualifications

    There are no formal entry requirements, however you will need to have a keen interest in health and social care.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Students will develop an understanding of methods of preventing and controlling infection, allowing for progression to the Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care or the Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. It will allow learners already in employment to use this knowledge to improve infection control measures in the workplace.

  • Careers

    Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to relevant qualifications including the Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care or the Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or could aid progression in the workplace. This qualification will allow learners already in employment to use this knowledge to improve infection control measures in the workplace.

  • Work experience

    There is no requirement to for work experience, however it would be beneficial to be able to undertake some work experience as part of the course. In order to do this, you would need to have DBS clearance at a cost of £44.00.

  • English and maths

    There will be no requirement to undertake maths and English as part of this course, however in order to progress in your career in working with children, it is favourable to have GCSEs in maths and English at a 4 or above or the equivalent.
