    It covers all the main topics that are related to working in Adult Social Care, including:

    • Effective communication
    • Personal Development in Adult Social Care
    • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Adult Social Care
    • Safeguarding
    • Duty of Care
    • The role of the social care worker
    • Person centred approaches in adult care settings
    • Health and safety
    • How to handle information in care settings

    This is a ‘distance learning’, online course done over these nine units and you have twelve weeks to complete it. You will be designated your own personal tutor who is always on hand to help and advice you via email.

  • Required qualifications

    This course is open to anyone who has worked in a care setting and has some knowledge of a care setting routine, procedures and person-centred care.

    A good level of literacy is required in order to complete this qualification – reading, writing and comprehension, as these are knowledge-based qualifications. You need to be able to understand what you have read within the learning materials and answer the assessment questions in your own words and in full sentences.

  • What skills will I develop?

    You will learn about the fundamental principles and values that underpin adult social care. Equality, diversity and inclusion are an important part of our everyday lives and this course delivers guidance that helps you to put it into practice. It covers safeguarding and protection and how to ensure vulnerable adults are kept safe from harm and what happens if they are not. It is a very good all round course that teaches you the basic skills that are needed to deliver a high standard of care.

  • Careers

    This is a very good course to set you on a career path in adult social care. From this course you could progress to level 3 and then if you wanted to pursue a managerial role, level 5.

  • English and maths

    Your work will be assessed for appropriate English and maths; corrections will be identified, and any development points will be highlighted to you.
