  • Is this course for you?

    The level 2 Medical Administration course is aimed at anyone who would like a career working on the administration side of a hospital, medical centre or residential home. The skills gained are transferable to other job role such a reception and general administration in other environments.

    No experience is necessary, however, a good command of English language is recommended. There is progression to the level 3 Medical Administration after successful completion of the course.

  • Required qualifications

    Mature learners should contact the course tutor for details.

    Learners 16 – 19 should have at least four GCSE’s at grade 4 or above one of which must be English language. Some knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint would be an advantage but is not essential.

  • What skills will I develop?

    The course provides the opportunity to learn to keyboard and use Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint to enable you to work in a professional environment.

    Two of the Five compulsory units are exam based these are Medical Terminology and Medical Principles these examinations will be taken in June 2022. The specification provides the learner with knowledge relating to key words and terminology which can then be used in practice once qualified. The remaining three compulsory units are administration skills, communication skills and working in the National Health Service, these are internal assessments. This is followed by two further units which are Medical Word Processing and Medical Audio.

  • Careers

    The course could lead to working as a medical receptionist or you may wish to further your studies and progress to level 3.

  • English and maths

    A pass grade in both English and maths a GCSE are required.

  • Other important information

    The course is designed to meet the needs of those working towards a career in the administration side of the medical environment. This is a level two course with progression to level 3 available at the end of the year.
