  • Is this course for you?

    One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. For many individuals, diagnosis can be a daunting and overwhelming time. Being able to access the right levels of care and services provides valuable support when people need it most.

    As cancer treatments are improved and more people survive cancer, an awareness of the impact of living with cancer long-term and knowledge of how to support individuals is vital for anyone caring for someone with cancer.

    This short course is great CPD for those working in health and social care, but is also suitable for those who care for someone living with cancer.

    There are no costs or other requirements for the programme.

  • Required qualifications

    No formal qualifications are required, however a good level of English would be beneficial.

  • What skills will I develop?

    You will develop an awareness of cancer, an introduction to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, introduction to cancer care and support and an introduction to end of life and bereavement care. Each of these points are paramount in providing an outstanding care service to individuals with cancer.

  • Careers

    You could consider further training in health & social in order to provide you with the necessary qualifications to work with and support individuals in cancer care services. In order to carry out this kind of role you would need a level 3 qualification.

  • English and maths

    You will learn and develop your maths and English throughout the course as you develop terminology around this type of care. These will enable you to be more proficient and knowledgeable within this service area.
