Plumbing Students Working in Workshop
  • Is this course for you?

As a plumber no two days are ever the same, installing a central heating system one day then the next you may be fitting a bathroom suite. A qualified plumber can expect to earn between £24,000 to £40,000 per year depending on experience. The aim of this plumbing course is to develop the basic practical skills that are required to carry out basic plumbing tasks. The course consists of practical lessons delivered in “real work” situations and you will be trained to use the tools a professional plumber would use on site.

  • Required qualifications

No qualifications are required to apply for the course, just a willingness to learn new skills.

  • What skills will I develop?

You will be introduced to plumbing tools and materials that are used within the plumbing industry. You will develop skills that will enable you to work with both copper and plastic pipe on hot and cold water systems. Basic maintenance tasks are also covered on the course.

  • Careers

You may want to further enhance your plumbing knowledge by applying for a level 1 or level 2 full-time plumbing daytime course. You could also try one of our other construction introduction evening classes. Your CV will also be enhanced by passing the introduction to plumbing course that would make you more employable within the construction industry.

  • English and maths

Throughout the course we will enhance your maths and English skills by incorporating maths and English tasks within the practical sessions. Maths and English skills are critical within the modern plumbing industry, these skills are used by plumbers and heating engineers throughout their working day. Sharpening these skills allows plumbers to work effectively, efficiently and safely. Good maths and English skills are an essential part of a modern plumbers toolkit.

  • Other important information

All tools and materials will be supplied by the college. All learners will be required to bring their own toe-protective footwear and clothing that is appropriate for a plumbing workshop environment. The learner will not carry out any formal assessment and work can be done at their own pace during the course.

You have to be aged 19 or above to join this course.
