    Create screen printing techniques onto fabric which can be re-created at home cheaply.

    Make paper stencils by drawing out designs and cutting out using craft knifes. Can develop your drawing skills or copy from images to create beautiful designs to print onto tote bags, tea towels or fabric.

    Learn different ways to screen print by hand. Learn how to prepare the screen, ready to print. Develop confidence in your art skills and knowledge and understanding of printing.

    Meet other like-minded people and communicate with others to develop thoughts and ideas.

  • Required qualifications

    None, suitable for all abilities.

    This course is aimed for beginners or for people with basic knowledge of printing.

  • What skills will I develop?

    We will begin using stencil brushes to print paper stencils. Explore handmade techniques and everyday materials to create prints and stencils which resemble screen printing effects.

    There will be the opportunity to use Textile Screens and squeegees to print your stencils onto fabric using printing inks. Experiment with different colourways to build up your print.

    You will be able to work on your own projects, working to a theme of your choice to develop your drawing and printing skills and to make finished pieces for yourself or other people.

    Continue with community art courses to develop your skills further.

    Can speak to a career’s advisor about future employment opportunities.

  • English and maths

    Maths: Simple registration to build up multiple colour ways. Drawing to different scales and drawing different shapes to make effective prints

    English: Learning different printing techniques and building confidence to talk about your work and learning journey. Deciding on a theme and researching artists or subject matters you like.

  • Other important information
    • Will need to buy fabric and tote bags or tea towels to print on.
    • You have to be aged 19 years and above to join this course.
