  • Is this course for you?

    This qualification has been designed to provide learners with in­ depth knowledge and understanding of the evolution, behaviour and training of domestic canines, including their care and welfare in kennels, home and boarding care. This qualification also includes learning around canine handling and transportation and the law relevant to the care and welfare of canines.

  • Required qualifications

    4 GCSE’s grade 4 or above, one of which must be maths or English, or equivalent level qualifications or be a mature learner with experience.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Students can expect to cover skills and knowledge related to:

    • Canine Behaviour
    • Canine Care
    • Canine Evolution
    • Canine Handling and Transportation
    • Canine Learning Theories
    • Care of Canines in Kennels, Day Care and Home Boarding
    • Dogs and the Law
  • Careers

    On successful completion of the AIM Qualifications Level 3 Diploma in Canine Care, Behaviour and Training, learners may move directly into employment in the canine care and welfare sector, or they may progress to areas of higher learning in canine care, welfare and training.

  • Work experience

    Students will be required to complete a work experience placement of at least 150 hours.

  • English and maths

    If you need top up either English or maths this can be done at college and is a requirement for those who are 16-18 at the start of the course.
