  • Is this course for you?

    Begin your career as a cyber security specialist. Our 3-week course introduces you to the core principles required to enter the cyber security industry. Learn the core principles of cyber security, networking, online threats and deploying security tools to defend an online system. You’ll also receive built in employability training shaped by hiring employers.

  • Required qualifications

    No previous coding or cyber experience is required, just a willingness to learn something new, a little time to practice and a basic understanding of how to use a computer.

  • What skills will I develop?

    You will be introduced to the core principles of modern software development, an introduction to programming and web development using our project-based immersive learning approach. The core elements will take the form of:

    • Exploring how the components of an operational cyber security system fit together
    • The nature of cyber threats
    • How attacks on big organisations are designed to work
    • Exploring the common threats related to systems including denial of service, financial crime, terrorism and many others
    • Examining the mechanisms used for common threats
    • Understanding the OSI model
    • Exploring network services and how they can be exploited
    • Understanding the professional tools used to secure systems
    • Plan out your own cyber secure system and implement it

    Once completed, you will be awarded a TLM Level 2 Accredited Certificate in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, accredited by the independent awarding body, The Learning Machine.

  • Careers

    After completing the Develop: Cyber course, you are one step closer to your dream job in tech.

    You can continue your training on the 12-week Master Software or Cyber Bootcamp, which will explore more advanced topics and give you the skills you need to start your cyber career, or progress directly into an apprenticeship.

  • English and maths

    English and maths are embedded throughout this course.

  • Other important information

    If you are studying remotely through our virtual learning environment, you will need access to a computer or laptop with mic and webcam.

    There are three stages of assessment within this qualification. Written exam, digital portfolio and Cyber Security Simulation Project.

    This is a full time course, running 9:30 – 17:30 Monday – Friday for 3-weeks.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • You must be aged 19+ when starting the course.
    • As a learner you must have lived in European Economic Area (including UK) for the last 3 years.

    The course is likely to be free of charge if you meet one of the following criteria:

    • If you are studying your first full level 2 qualification in a similar subject.
    • If you are unemployed and in receipt of any form of benefits (excluding Child Tax Credits) and/or working earning £18K or less per year (this will need to be evidenced on application).
