  • Is this course for you?

    The Creative Industries course is a great introduction for 14yrs + school age students to transition into a college environment and experience a range of creative and digital skills practices including those found in art, performing arts, digital media, music production & performance, computing and the web. In addition, you will build up your maths and English skills, in readiness to progress onto our Level 1 course, and in undertaking maths and English GCSE in readiness to progress onto our 16+ courses.

    Students should be creative and looking to experiment and practice new skills, learning from their mistakes and exploring the opportunities the creative sector can provide. Students who have completed the Entry 3 have often gone onto our next level courses and progressed onto our fulltime further educational study programmes with positive success.

  • Required qualifications

    No formal qualifications are required, but you will have to undergo a selection process with our ‘Head of 14-16 Provision’ to ensure you are both suitable for the programme, and either a home elect student.

    Attitude, commitment to learning and to attending college fully is required to be considered a place on this programme. A genuine passion for working in a land-based environment and motivation for a career in land based and/or animal care industries is essential.

    Attendance is paramount to achieving and to be taken very seriously. Learners that attend less than 90% will have their offer of course placement revoked and removed from programme.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Learn the basics of all areas of multimedia and creative such as;

    • Media - learn the basics of film production to start recording your media content.
    • Art - learn basic art & design techniques, including fashion, textiles and graphic design.
    • Music - learn the basics of music production to start recording your own music.
    • ICT - learn website design, important skill needed for freelance work in the creative sector
    • A wide range of transferrable skills such as communication, working with others, problem solving, managing and presenting information and self / team management
  • Careers

    Once you have completed the Entry 3, you may be able to progress onto our Level 1 Creative Industries course and continue your journey into the creative subjects, and in sitting your GCSEs in English and maths. This will provide you then with the opportunity, upon completing year 11 with us, of starting one of our full-time further education courses in the creative sector.

    Chose from courses in art, media and film, games production, music tech and performance, digital/ IT or performing arts. The key is that you will build a portfolio of creative practice to help open new doors

  • English and maths

    It is compulsory for all students on the Entry 3 course to study maths and English as part of their program of study, although formal exam entry won’t happen until progressing onto the colleges Level 1 Creative Industries course and/or at the end of year 11.

    All students on the study programme will also benefit from working through ‘CENTURY’. This is an online brain training app designed to maintain and further develop English and maths skills through the colleges’ tutorial process.

    English and maths skills development are also embedded within the core qualification.
