    This L1 Creative Studies course starting in January is an Introductory Certificate with a focus on ‘Multimedia’ creative skills, and is a full-time course suitable for learners looking to get into the creative arts and digital industries, and have perhaps left school look for alternative pathway. The course provides students an opportunity to engage with a range of creative areas and develop skills perfect for future progression onto art, performing arts, digital media, games production, music production & performance, computing and web design. You will also have the opportunity alongside studying to build skills to support further progression such as CV building, Interview practise and work experience.

    The ‘Multimedia’ L1 Introductory certificate takes place at Lichfield College campus and provides opportunities for you to progress onto our more specialist L2 qualification within the creative industry.

  • Required qualifications

    No qualifications needed ahead of starting this course, but a commitment to being creative, and maths and English working grades Level 1 or above.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Learn the basics of all areas of multimedia and creative such as;

    • Media – learn the basics of film production to start recording your media content.
    • Art – learn basic art and design techniques.
    • Music – learn the basics of music production to start recording your own music.
    • ICT – learn website design, important skill needed for freelance work in the creative sector.

    Once you have completed the Multimedia Level 1 Vocational certificate course you can progress on to the specialist L2 qualification with us.

    Our dedicated work experience team are here to help and support you in finding a meaningful work experience opportunity.

    Recent studies have shown that employers consider work experience to be extremely desirable. Whilst qualifications are hugely important, employers also require candidates to have skills and experience necessary for the workplace.

    Preparing you for the working world is very important to us, so that you may be successful in your next step.

    Work experience placements provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills; have a better understanding of the industry you want to work in and give you an insight into what it is like to be employed. They can also be great fun and very rewarding and you may even be offered a great reference, a part–time job, holiday working hours, apprenticeships or full-time jobs.

    Once you start your course you will be provided with further information about work experience programmes, but it is never too early for you to start thinking about work experience placements and finding an employer who will offer you an opportunity.

    Work experience is an opportunity for you to gain experience in your chosen career path in order to develop relevant skills. Equally, it also helps you to acquire employability skills, attitudes and behaviours that are essential for future employment. There will be an opportunity for you to reflect on your performance during work experience and you will receive some form of reference/feedback from the employer.

  • English and maths

    All new students studying on the level 1 course will be expected to study maths and English as part of their program of study.

    All students on the study programme will also benefit from working through ‘CENTURY. An online brain training app designed to maintain and further develop English and maths skills through the colleges’ tutorial process.

    English and maths skills development are also embedded within the core qualification.

  • Other important information

    Each year the learners have the opportunity to attend a residential trip. This alternates each year between a 3-day London trip and a 4-day Paris trip. During these trips, learners have the opportunity to visit various world-renowned art galleries, museums and studios. There will also be other trip opportunities throughout the year.
