    Did you know that in every hour someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s disease? There are approximately 152,000 strokes in the UK every year, and one in six of the UK population have some form of hearing loss.

    These health conditions, along with others such as arthritis and dementia, affect a substantial proportion of the population. A good understanding of common health conditions is essential in any care role and environment.

    This course is made up of three learning assessments.

    You will gain an understanding how to contribute to monitoring the health of individuals affected by health conditions and understand the effective ways of monitoring an individual’s health in accordance with good practice.

    • You will develop an understanding of cardiovascular disease.
    • Develop an understanding of stroke awareness and managing risk factors.
    • Develop an understanding of arthritis awareness, effects and management, and treatment and support services.
  • Required qualifications

    This qualification is designed for those who wish to develop their understanding and knowledge of common health conditions. To be in a working or voluntary role, for work reflective practice is ideal.

    There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, a good level of literacy and time to commit to the twelve-week course is essential.
