Coding
  • Is this course for you?

Computer coding is the language that is used in computer programmes to create the instructions that make websites, apps and other technologies we use work. There are many coding languages that are used, including Python, C#, C++, JavaScript, PHP to name but a few, and each coding bootcamp that we run is tailored to a specific coding language, so why not try your skills at understanding how computers communicate to perform actions and tasks, and if you have one language under your belt, why not then learn another on our rolling programmes of coding bootcamps.

This course will explore the fundamentals of the programming using programming languages with the intention of providing leaners with the fundamental skills of applied computer programming languages. The courses will provide knowledge of the application, syntax and functionality of how to write clean logical code in the development of a small application.

This is the introduction course for the Coding Bootcamp and can be followed by the Intermediate and Advanced courses if required.

  • Required qualifications

No formal qualifications are required, but an understanding of computing would be beneficial.

  • What skills will I develop?

    • Understanding of coding conventions
    • Syntax and functionality
    • How to compile or run a programme
    • Commenting, amending and errors
    • Application within an industry context

Each Coding Bootcamp will provide you with skills and understanding towards a specific coding language. These skills will include basic programming techniques including but not limited to; Decisions, Iteration and data structures such as Arrays and Lists. The course will touch on the beginnings of Object-Oriented programming and allow you to use these skills to build robust applications.

  • Careers

Programming is an essential skill for developing software solutions. This course will be the beginning of your journey into programming that could eventually lead into a rewarding career as a, Software Developer, Web Developer, Mobile App Developer, Data Scientist or Network Engineer to name but a few.

This course is intended to provide you with an understanding of computing programming and coding knowledge – these skills can be adapted and applied towards further FE or HE study or used within a business environment.

This course can also be used progress onto the Coding Bootcamp Intermediate and Advanced short courses.

  • English and maths

Maths is a very important aspect of programming. You could be using many different techniques to develop algorithms to solve problems and develop solutions.

  • Other important information

The course will start with the fundamentals of each language being taught and build on from there.
