    It covers all the main topics that are related to Diabetes, including:

    • What is Diabetes?
    • Prevention and early intervention for type 2 Diabetes
    • Initial care, treatment & management of Diabetes

    This is a ‘distance learning’, online course done over 4 units and you have twelve weeks to complete it. You will be designated your own personal tutor who is always on hand to help and advice you via email.

  • Required qualifications

    None. This course is open to anyone. But basic literacy skills, spelling and grammar are useful.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Diabetes management can refer to dealing with short term events such as high and low blood sugar to controlling it over the long term such as by getting to grips with understanding the condition.

    Management of diabetes involves more than keeping blood sugar levels under control, although learning about hypos and hypers is a great place to start. This course also covers managing diabetes and how this should also encompass keeping blood pressure and cholesterol levels under control, maintaining weight and dealing with the emotional impact of the condition.

    This is a very good course for anyone wanting a career or someone that is already working in health and social care. From this course you could progress to level 3 and then if you wanted to pursue go on to complete an access course to complete a degree.
