    Are you interested in developing your skills to be able to work in the business sector?

    This qualification is designed for learners aged 19+ who want to progress into employment in the first instance, or further learning, depending on their own needs and interests

  • Required qualifications

    There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Learners will develop underpinning knowledge that is required by employers to work in a range of different environments in a business administration role. You will develop essential knowledge of how to carry out administrative tasks such as how to manage information and supporting events know how to apply their knowledge in a variety of industries and job roles. Whilst completing this qualification, learners may develop the knowledge, understanding and essential skills employers look for in employees. These range from familiar ‘key skills’ such as team working, independent learning and problem solving, to more tricky-to-measure skills such as:

    • an appreciation for appropriate behaviour and dress
    • appropriate interpersonal skills
    • communicating with professional colleagues/peers and/or hierarchical seniors
    • supporting other aspiring employees
    • personal manners and department
    • understanding work practices and how different roles and departments function within an organisation
  • Careers

    Learners who achieve this qualification could progress in roles in business administration or to a Level 3 programme in business or apprenticeship. Achieving this qualification may also be useful to learners wanting progress into administration careers in the following sector areas:

    Travel and Tourism, Sport, Leisure and Recreation, Retail, Health, Public Services and Care Arts, Media and Publishing.

  • Work experience

    There is no requirement to undertake any work experience, however gaining work experience could help to enhance your knowledge and skills within the sector.

  • English and maths

    There is no requirement to undertake maths and English as part of this course, however these skills are vital in the business sector and employers may require that you have GCSE grade 4’s or above or the equivalent, therefore it may be beneficial to study maths and English alongside your course.
