    • Those who wish to become a competent in the installation or installation and maintenance of environmental technologies.

    The qualifications cover a wide range of environmental technologies including: installation of small scale solar photovoltaic systems, installation and maintenance of small scale solar photovoltaic systems, installation of solar thermal hot water systems, installation and maintenance of solar thermal hot water systems, installation of heat pumps systems (non-refrigerant circuits), installation and maintenance of heat pumps systems (non-refrigerant circuits), installation of water harvesting and recycling system and the installation and maintenance of water harvesting and recycling system. The qualifications are made up of knowledge units and performance units.

  • Required qualifications

    The design course is aimed at existing, experienced electricians or those with a solid understanding of the requirements of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, Testing and Inspection and electrical installations.

  • What skills will I develop?

    This course will be delivered over 2 full days and is theory based and as such will be classroom based. This introductory unit will cover –

    • Know the fundamental working principles of micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies.
    • Know to the fundamental requirement of building location/building features for the potential to install micro-renewable and water conservation systems to exist.
    • Know the fundamental regulatory requirements relating to micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies.
    • Know the typical advantages and disadvantages of micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies.

    Bs 7671:20018 requirements for electrical installations – 18th edition

    Guidance note 1: selection & erection

    Guidance note 3: inspection and testing

    Depending on your household income, additional funding may be available to help cover the cost of things like travel and college materials.

    If you are aged 19+ and earn less that £17,004 then your course could be FREE!

    You can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course. Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks. You won’t have to start repaying your loan until your income is over a certain amount (the ‘threshold’ amount).
