  • Is this course for you?

Do you need a level of knowledge and skill on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to enhance your existing skill set? Qualify during our EVENING PLC course, using actual PLCs and not simulators to gain experience of real time operations.

A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a digital computer used for automation of electromechanical processes, with diverse applications from control of machinery on factory assembly lines to, for example, amusement rides and light fixtures. PLCs are used in many industries and machines.

    • Available at our Cannock College on a Thursday evening
    • Available at our Tamworth College on a Tuesday evening

    Cost: £699

  • Required qualifications

The PLC10 training course is aimed at individuals who want to develop a career in engineering using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Service leavers interested in this training course will be expected to meet a minimum requirement of basic level Engineering Skills (Mechanical or Electrical).

  • What skills will I develop?

The course will particularly suit service leavers with an HNC/HND or electronics background. Many employment opportunities within engineering will list PLC knowledge as a primary skill set to have for the job.

  • Careers

The training course will provide you with the essential knowledge needed to understand the hardware and software concepts of PLCs, their applications in the control of manufacturing and other processes and how PLC may be programmed.

  • English and maths

Whilst at South Staffordshire college, you will be given the opportunity to improve your maths and English skills by continuing to study at GCSE or Functional Skill level. We have a great team working alongside your main course tutors with the skills and knowledge to improve your maths and English skills.

  • Other important information

You are required to purchase safety boots, work gear and details of these will be discussed at interview. All other equipment such as power tools and safety aids, PPE, are supplied by the college as required.

Additional home study will be required as part of this course.
