    This self-guided course in Adobe After-Effects introduces learners to the industry-standard tool for video compositing, motion graphics design, and animation.

    This course will provide you with all of the necessary learning materials required to study from home, expanding your understanding of the Adobe suite and specifically After-Effects that will allow you to work to understand features such as editing and formatting layers on a timeline, creating composites, rota and masking and adding effects, text and credits to your work.

  • Required qualifications

    No formal qualifications are required, but an understanding of computing, graphics of video editing would be beneficial but not essential.

    You will also need a computer that can run and compile video content and being able to run this software effectively.

  • What skills will I develop?

    You will develop in-depth knowledge of Adobe After Effects functions and tools that will support you in the production of professional post produced video content

    The learning material for this course will be online, but you will be allocated an online tutor who will provide guidance on starting-up and course when will then be accessible via email throughout the duration of your enrolment for troubleshooting queries.

    Aspects of the course will cover the following:

    • How to import and process video footage in the right format
    • An understanding of how timelines work
    • How to work to integrate other Adobe packages to work with After Effects.
    • An understanding of overlay effects and layers
    • Basic understanding of composition, rotoscope and keying
    • How to output and exporting your post-production file
  • Careers

    There is a formal industry recognised qualification attached to this course that could lead you into a role that could involve film, visual effects, or post-production work.

  • English and maths

    English: Learners will develop verbal communication skills through class activities and discussions. Their spelling and grammar will be met through completion of exercises within the online learning environment.

    Maths: Learners will develop confidence in maths through creating and editing skills in this software.

  • Other important information

    On successful completion of this course, attempts at practice exam and completion of the certification exam, certification is awarded by directly by Adobe.

    Course Structure:

    • Introduction: 2 hours face to face
    • Virtual / Online teaching hours: 80-100 approx – self study
    • Teams catch-up: 2 hours
