South Staffordshire College awarded ISO27001 accreditation

September 2022

The College is proud to announce that it has been awarded the ISO27001:2017 UKAS accreditation, one of only four colleges in the sector that has achieved this kitemark. ISO27001 is the internationally recognised standard for information security and the kitemark covers the College’s operations at its Lichfield Campus initially. The project was led by Jason Whitaker, Director of IT and Project Performance, but involved hard work and support from all areas of the College.

By aligning with the ISO27001 framework, our staff, learners, governors and partners can take assurance that the College provides effective information security through its processes, controls and adherence to information security laws and regulations. Information security is a major concern in all areas of life, especially education which has suffered some well-publicised cyber security issues in recent years.

The College intends to build on this accreditation in the forthcoming years to ensure that all sites are accredited, although the policies and procedures implemented to comply with our ISO27001 status have generally been adopted across all sites already. But for now the College is celebrating being one of the few colleges in the country who have achieved this sought after kitemark.
