Coronavirus Update – Self-Isolation and Vaccinations

August 2021

Important Update

COVID-19 Update (Monday 16th August 2021)

From today, the rules on self-isolating for anyone who is fully vaccinated are changing. Many test centres are also now doing ‘walk in’ vaccinations for 16 year old’s, so please see below for the current guidance.

If you are fully vaccinated:

  • If you are fully vaccinated, and you don’t have any symptoms, you will no longer have to isolate if you have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19. Full vaccination means you must have received your final vaccine dose at least 14 days prior to contact with a positive case.
  • Instead, if you are contacted by Test and Trace, you will be advised to do a PCR test. Home PCR tests are available to order through the Government website or by calling 119, or you can visit a PCR test site. You are not required to self-isolate while you wait for your PCR result. Even if you are fully vaccinated, you are still at risk of being infected so please consider extra precautions including wearing a face covering and limiting social contact.
  • If you have symptoms or test positive you must continue with the practice of self-isolation for 10 days from the date of the test. Please email enquiries@southstaffs.ac.uk to inform our Learner Services team.

If you are not fully vaccinated:

  • If you are not fully vaccinated, you still need to isolate if you are in contact with someone who has COVID-19.
  • If you have symptoms or test positive you must continue with the practice of self-isolation for 10 days from the date of the test. Please email enquiries@southstaffs.ac.uk to inform our Learner Services team.

Vaccinations

We would strongly encourage all students to get vaccinated as soon as possible. To find a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination site anywhere across the country, visit the NHS website and enter your postcode. If you are unable to attend one of the clinics, you can book your vaccine by contacting 119 or visiting the National Booking System.
