A learning problem or physical disability need not prevent you from doing your chosen course. We have friendly, qualified support staff who can assist you with information and guidance before and during your course. We also have student mentors who offer a fully confidential service to allow you to gain support with a range of issues.
Meeting your learning needs
All learners receive support with their learning from their Progression Coaches and teachers. However, the Additional Support Team offers additional assistance for those learners with specific learning differences, disabilities or other identified learning needs.
We offer a wide range of additional learning support to help increase your confidence and develop strategies to help you learn more independently. These include:
Learners are entitled to an initial assessment in order to find out if extra help is required for Maths and English and functional skills lessons will be included as part of your course.
Our equal opportunities policy details our commitment to providing the widest possible access to learning for all our students.
Wheelchair users have good access on most of our sites. Disabled toilets and dedicated parking spaces are also available.
We would be happy to discuss your learning needs. Please contact Malachy Holland, equality, disability and inclusion officer on 01827 304351 or malachy.holland@southstaffs.ac.uk.
