Advice and guidance at college

At South Staffordshire College we believe in putting learners first. Because of this, there is a great emphasis on providing the environment and services that will support you to succeed in what you are studying and to achieve your aims.

We have a team called 'Learner Services' who are dedicated to giving advice and support to all people who are either considering coming to college, or who have already joined.

The Learner Services team are available at each campus to provide all the information you need to help before you join us, to help make your decision to join college as stress-free as possible. This advice includes:

  • helping you to decide which course best suits your goals, aspirations and abilities
  • financial advice
  • specialist support which is available
  • childcare
  • mentoring & counselling

So, whether you are interested in taking up a new hobby; taking your career in a new direction, or looking at next steps from school - please feel free to drop by and speak to the Learner Services advice for an informal chat about your options.

Library Resource Centre (LRC)

The LRC’s are based at Cannock, Rodbaston and Tamworth.  Books and other resources can be borrowed from the LRC’s.  Each location also has a number of open access computers for individual use as well as tables for individual and small group study.

You can find lots of online resources that may be useful to you during your time at college.  These are accessible via STEPS, the college VLE , in the Library Resources section.

All LRC’s open at 8:45am and close at either 5:00pm or 7:00pm depending on location and evening courses.  See opening time signs for details.

Printing and photocopying machines are also available as well as general stationary sales and other services like binding and laminating

The LRC staff will be pleased to see you using the facilities but please remember to respect others using the LRC for study, research and college work.
