Our university awards are validated by Staffordshire University. All of our courses are delivered with a key focus on offering qualifi cations and skills required by employers.

A Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma or Foundation degree from South Staffordshire College can be excellent routes into achieving higher education. We work in partnership with Staffordshire University to provide some very work-friendly, industry focused university award packages.

What is a Foundation degree?
A Foundation degree is a modern, higher education qualification designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge that employers are always seeking. And the good news is that you can apply for a Foundation degree even if you don't have any traditional qualifications. As long as you have the desire and potential to succeed, you will be considered. Foundation degrees can also open a gateway to professional recognition and higher-level qualifications.

Returning to education
Many of our students join us straight from sixth form or college and a large proportion are returners to education. The choice to return to education is a big decision to make and South Staffordshire College aims to help make the transition back into education as easy as possible.
Our support network can help advise you on the right course for you, any costs you may need to be aware of and will help introduce you back into education with advice on study skills, revision and information on anything else you may need to know.

Financial support
Funding for Higher Education can appear very complex and it is important that you research this properly and seek advice. Financial support is available to both full-time and part-time Foundation degree, HND/HNC and Honours degree students. Financial help is means-tested and can depend upon the income of parents or partner that you may live with.

Academic support
Above all, our tutors’ aim with every student is to help him or her succeed. With this in mind, South Staffordshire College has a strong ethos in providing alongside outstanding teaching, strong academic support.
All students are given access to additional support. This can range from tuition sessions, one to one module assistance to help ensure all areas are fully understood, to support and training in revision techniques, presentation skills and coursework production to ensure the coursework is to the students’ highest standard.
Sometimes students may require extra support with reading, writing, maths, mobility or even motivation... we will do our very best to help you any way we can. This is tailored support and is beneficial for all our learners from school leavers to those returning to education.
If you enrol on a course that is validated by Staffordshire University, you will receive a student ID card which gives you access to the University’s facilities, including online resources such as e-journals, e-books and databases. You will also get your own email account, and access to MyPortal, your own personalised web page.
You will also have access to Staffordshire University’s campuses at Stoke and Stafford including the Students’ Union and all the great social life on offer there.
