Spanning a wide range of key engineering skills including:
• Machining - Milling, turning, grinding and fabrication, making parts for machines to engineering drawings.
• Electrical - Working to electrical schematics to wire machines and control panels.
• Machine Tool Fitting - Bench fitting of assemblies for grinding machines, as well as fitting assemblies to the machine and ultimately building it as a whole.
• Mechanical Reconditioning - Of machines, sub-assemblies and worn parts. Stripping, identifying faults, replacing worn parts and rebuilding.
• Other Key Areas - Such as working in purchasing, design and the paint shop to gain an all-round appreciation of the wide range of different tasks and skills which go into the manufacture of a machine.
The successful candidate will then focus on progression to machinist, electrician or machine tool fitter, dependent upon abilities and areas of personal interest, but will retain an all-round knowledge of the process as a whole.
