Swine flu symptoms

The Health Protection Agency advises that anyone who has symptoms of flu-like illness should stay at home to rest and avoid the spread of infection. The symptoms of swine flu include:

 

  • Fever
  • Cough and/.or shortness of breath
  • Aching muscles
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose, sneezing
  • Headache
  • Malaise (lethargy/listlessness/loss of appetite)
  • Chills
  • Diarrhea

 

With swine flu, these symptoms may present themselves suddenly.

 

Seek advice

 

If at any point you have these symptoms and are concerned that you have swine flu, seek advice in the following ways:

 

 

If you are still concerned, or if symptoms suddenly become worse, call your GP for assessment and advice.

 

Prevent the spread of infection

 

You can prevent the spread of infection to others: Catch It, Bin It, Kill It.

 

Catch It - use a tissue to cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing

Bin It - Put dirty tissues in the bin straight away

Kill It - Wash your hands frequently with soap and water; keep your domestic and working environment hygienic with regular cleaning.
