Students at South Staffordshire College have been given a unique opportunity to help secure jobs once they leave College.
Lecturer Eleanor Atkins from the College’s Rodbaston campus, arranged for five people from local countryside organisations to visit the campus to conduct mock interviews for the students, giving them the edge when applying for jobs.

Rob Davies from Cannock Chase Rangers’ Service, Jim Stewart from The Forestry Commission, Justine Lloyd, a Countryside Officer at Lichfield District Council, Chris Walsh, Biodiversity Officer at Lichfield District Council and Jean-Pierre Parsons, who is retired but runs a local shoot all gave up their time to conduct a series of mock interviews.
The mock interviews provided the NDCM Year 1 students with a true-life experience of what to expect when they attend interviews for real and all the students found it really useful.
The interviewers were also suitably impressed with the students.
Eleanor was pleased with the results. “The students performed very well and rose to the opportunity, impressing the interviewers with their efforts. They learnt a great deal from the experience, and in particular that the interview process was a lot harder than they had imagined.”
