The Leek County Show has proved a great venue for South Staffordshire College’s Hereford cattle, taking two major trophies home.

The Herefords, based at the College’s Rodbaston campus, are lovingly cared for by students and staff and are shown at many of the County Shows.
Badlingham Blossom 156th (Blossom) won 1st in heifer class and went on to win best female and overall Hereford Champion.

Llancillo Hall Oyster Lass 2nd (Oyster) also triumphed, taking 1st in cow with calf class and reserve female champion to Blossom.
And to top it off, Rodbaston Oyster Lass 2nd (Gladys) also won 1st in calf class, following on from her success in this category at the Nantwich & South Cheshire Show.
After the judging process, Judge Mr J Jackson said when he found out the cattle were owned by the College that both he and his wife were students at Rodbaston (then an independent college) many years ago.
The day finished on a very high note when the College were presented with two trophies – the J Oakes Ash Cup for Best Hereford Female and the Leek Auctions Challenge Cup for Champion Hereford. The parade commentator praised Rodbaston campus for their excellent training of land based students and for supporting the agricultural industry.
A job well done!
