South Staffordshire College Students Rise to the Occasion

South Staffordshire College students have been doing their bit for Remembrance Day and raising money for a national charity at the same time.

Fifteen Level 1 Public Service students from the College’s Tamworth campus took part in a sponsored 3 tonne mini-bus pull to raise money for Help for Heroes.  Their 6 miles journey, which took them 80 minutes in awful conditions, started at Whittington Barracks and ended at Tamworth Memorial in time for the two minute silence.

Deputy Principal of South Staffordshire College Mark Robertson was there to welcome the students and lay a wreath on behalf of staff and students.
“The students organised everything themselves and although they found it  tough pulling the bus in what were pretty awful weather conditions they are confident they will raise around £1000 when all the monies are collected.  They were delighted to finish the journey in such a great time and proud to be associated with such a worthy cause” he said.

A number of students also took part in the parade around Cannock and marched down to the Tamworth Memorial to pay their respects on behalf of South Staffordshire College.
