South Staffordshire College signs the skills pledge at stakeholder event

South Staffordshire College's Chief Executive Principal Graham Morley and Learning and Skills Council representative Mike Bell used the College's recent inaugural stakeholder event to mark the signing of the Skills Pledge.

The Skills Pledge operates under the auspices of the LSC and is delivered along with access to the services of a Business Link Advisor.

By signing up South Staffordshire College is making a commitment to invest in the skills of its workforce, with all employees trained to at least Level 2, the equivalent of five good GCSE's grades A-C, with long-term aims to raise targets above and beyond that standard.

There are four stages in the process, starting with the pledge itself and moving on through an assessment of skills and training priorities, developing an action plan and then implementation.

Signing the Skills Pledge is the latest milestone in Graham Morley's declared intention of making South Staffordshire College "a world-class seat of learning".

In a letter of support for the College David Kidney MP, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department of Energy and Climate Change said he was "delighted that the College is making this public commitment to meet its responsibility for skills training".

The Stakeholder event was held in the impressive "Greenhouse" on the College's Rodbaston campus and in keeping with the Skills Pledge commitment was planned, managed and delivered by the in-house marketing team.
