- About Us
At South Staffordshire College, we offer a wide variety of learning opportunities through a range of courses. Our learning provision is delivered across our Rodbaston, Lichfield and Tamworth campuses, which each offer extensive teaching expertise and possess strong industry connections. We understand the importance of equipping students with the skills necessary for real work, and as such, we strive to closely align our courses with the needs of employers.
Open days for our campuses will take place next week and prospective students are invited to take a tour of the facilities, meet the teaching staff, and learn more about the courses and qualifications on offer. Our open event at Lichfield Campus will take place on Thursday 22nd June between 6pm and 8pm, and Rodbaston, Tamworth and Torc Campus events will take place on Saturday 24th June between 10am and 1pm.
Tamworth presents a wide range of courses to students. Facilities on offer encompass everything from health and social care and engineering hubs, to hair and beauty salons and 3D printing workshops. Our Tamworth Campus has an on-site nursery and any students requiring childcare can apply for a place here.
At the Lichfield Campus, students are presented with a prospectus rich in creative courses, from performing arts to creative media. It is also home to the Wedge art gallery, where national and international artists showcase their work. You’ll find fully equipped film and television and performance studios and we also have excellent partnerships with the Lichfield Garrick Theatre, which provides the stage for many of our student productions.
At Rodbaston, students will have the opportunity to explore some of the unique facilities the campus is home to. Specialising in agriculture, landbased engineering, horticulture and animal care, Rodbaston has an on-site working farm, Animal Zone and an Equine Centre.
The AgriSTEM Academy is a new addition to the Rodbaston Campus, which provides market-leading and innovative training opportunities for the agri-tech and Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) industries. The Academy boasts pioneering technology and facilities, including an agri-tech precision farming engineering lab, to ensure students possess the skills necessary for a successful future in these industries.
We also offer a large variety of adult courses, apprenticeships and university level qualifications at all our campuses, which can provide the skills needed for a change in career, a hobby, or for setting up a business.
The decision to relocate services from Cannock Campus to our neighbouring campuses at Rodbaston, Lichfield and Tamworth, enables students to study at more specialist facilities, in a sustainable learning environment that is committed to enabling their future success.
Effective from July 2017, the transfer of services will be made as smooth as possible by the provision of free transport from Cannock to the Rodbaston, Lichfield and Tamworth campuses. The offer of free transport will apply to existing students and those students enrolling on courses to start in September, which would previously have been located at Cannock. Journey times will take as little as 25 minutes, and our provision is estimated to save learners an average of £65 per month on travel costs. The Cannock Campus will have an open event taking place on 20th June where you will be able to find out information about courses on offer as well as the free transport offer.
