A highlight in Staffordshire’s events calendar, South Staffordshire College are delighted to announce that they will once again be the main corporate sponsor of the Staffordshire County Show in 2017. The extremely popular  annual event which last year welcomed over 60,000 visitors of all ages and is a fantastic day  out for all the family, will be taking place at the Staffordshire County Showground on 31st May  and 1st June 2017.


While events staff at the college are busy putting exciting new plans in place for this year’s event, there will also be a host of features that are back by popular demand, including the popular ‘leisure and learning’ marquee. Run by the college’s community and adult learning team the marquee will provide visitors with the opportunity to try their hand at a range of fantastic ‘have-a-go’ activities and workshops including Spanish, web design, aromatherapy, tai chi, guitar and many more. Completely free of charge, the family friendly activities are the perfect way to experience a taste of some of the hundreds of part time courses on offer at South Staffordshire College at dates and times throughout the year. Those who decide to ‘sign up’ for a course at the college whilst visiting the marquee will also be entitled to exclusive course discounts.

2017 will also see the return of the ‘Animal Zone Experience’. Perfect for animal loving children and adults alike, the Animal Zone will once again be hosting a range of fascinating creatures and animal related activities including ‘Meet the Keeper’ sessions where you can find out everything there is to know about some of your favourite species. Located in the Country Pursuits area of the showground, the marquee will give visitors of all ages the chance to get up close to the range of cuddly creatures in the animal interaction sessions and, for the brave-at-heart, a wide range of reptiles and creepy crawlies too! There will even be a chance to have your photo taken with Quill the barn owl and win a lemur/meerkat experience. Staff from the college will also be on hand on the main stand (F79) to offer advice and guidance on the exciting range of courses and apprenticeships available at their Rodbaston Campus including Animal Care, Veterinary Care, Agriculture, Countryside Management and many more.

This year, the college are offering even more choice following the opening of the incredible AgriSTEM Academy. Based at Rodbaston campus, the Academy sees the introduction of new courses and apprenticeships in subjects ranging from landbased technology, engineering technology, motor vehicle maintenance, construction and many more. Visitors to the college’s stand will also be able to have a go on the college’s cutting edge tractor simulator, put their skills to the test on the virtual welders and horse simulator and even try their hand at construction, landscape gardening, plus much more.

The Staffordshire County Showground is situated on the A518 Stafford to Uttoxeter Road, just four miles from Stafford. Why not visit the show on 31st May or 1st June to explore everything that South Staffordshire College have to offer.
