The role of your personal tutor is to help you review your progress, set new targets, support you with any problems you may encounter and advise you about your next steps into work or higher education. We invite parents to consultation evenings and issue progress reports during the year.
South Staffordshire College fully recognises its responsibility to protect and promote the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We are proactive in our duty to work with other agencies in order to achieve this, and have a highly positive approach to multi-agency working. The College and every member of staff have a legal duty to report cases of suspected or disclosed abuse of a child, student under 18 or a vulnerable adult of any age. The Director of Learner Experience is the College s designated lead for the protection of children and vulnerable adults.
The College embraces new technologies and all that they have to offer in supporting learning but we also recognise the potential downsides and dangers of such technologies. At induction students are made aware of the College’s acceptable use policy and IT Code of Conduct, they are alerted to and reminded of the downsides and dangers of social networking sites and provided with guidance as to how to keep themselves safe online.
The LRC’s are based at Cannock, Rodbaston and Tamworth. Books and other resources can be borrowed from the LRC’s. Each location also has a number of open access computers for individual use as well as tables for individual and small group study.
You can find lots of online resources that may be useful to you during your time at college. These are accessible via STEPS, the college VLE , in the Library Resources section.
All LRC’s open at 8:45am and close at either 5:00pm or 7:00pm depending on location and evening courses. See opening time signs for details.
Printing and photocopying machines are also available as well as general stationary sales and other services like binding and laminating
The LRC staff will be pleased to see you using the facilities but please remember to respect others using the LRC for study, research and college work.
And you'll also find various on-campus facilities offering low-cost, high-quality catering for the occasions when you need to feed your body rather than your mind.
