Aim

To introduce you to the ideas of environmental awareness and the skills and knowledge to make a positive contribution towards the environment in your own organisation.

 

Objectives

To provide participants with the opportunity to:

 

• Understand more about environmental issues facing organisations today
• Develop the skills of environmental management
• Assess the impact and practical implications of Environmental legislation
• Describe an existing environmental standard or policy which exists within the organisation and discuss its impact
• Understand how our contributions affect and impact upon the service provided to others.

 

Course Content

Introductions

 

The programme is divided into to six main sections covering the units:

 

1. Introduction to the principles of Environmental Awareness
2. Managing Energy Use
3. Managing Wastage Disposal
4. Managing Water Use
5. Managing the Use of Transport
6. Reducing the risk of Pollution.

 

At the end of unit 1, 4 & 6, you will be asked to complete a micro assessment. After which an environmental audit document on your organisation should be completed. The assessments will be tutor marked and externally verified. Upon successful completion participants will be awarded with the Ascentis Developing Environmental Awareness Certificate at level 2.

 

Outline

The style of the course is to build on the Knowledge and skills and effective behaviours which participants may already possess. The emphasis is on being constructive and supportive so participants leave feeling confident, able, and positive and with awareness and skills which will help them to contribute more effectively in relation to the environmental aspects of their work.

 

The course is inter-active using a mixture of presentations, exercises and discussion sessions. Please note a learning pack will be issued to you on the day. The micro assessments within the pack will be completed during the programme and access to your company’s environmental policy will be most useful to you when completing the final assessment.
