No previous knowledge of the language is required. The course covers "survival situations" including simple instructions, directions, travel, eating out, shopping and booking accommodation. You will develop the four skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) necessary for acquiring a language. You will have on-going informal assessments in class.
Suitable for students who have completed a beginners year or have some previous knowledge of the language. You will be introduced to past and future tenses. The course aims to broaden your vocabulary and knowledge of grammar. You will be encouraged to hold a conversation in the target language using tenses and expressing your ideas and opinions. Current news and magazine articles are used to promote discussions and authentic radio/TV/video items used to develop listening skills.
The course does not lead to an external qualification. There is no examination, at the end of the course you will be issused with a certificate of completion.
The course runs for two hours per week.
You will need writing equipment and a dictionary would be useful. The tutor will advise on the purchase of supporting books/tapes.
