Employer Description: We are a new business that launched March 2016. We have a small shop in Tettenhall village and offer garden services. Mainly regular maintenance with a few one-off visits. Since opening we have been extremely busy with enquiries flooding in. We are a small team and have been struggling to tackle with demand so would love to find someone to join our growing company.

Vacancy Description: You will be working alongside a team leader to carry out the day to day regular maintenance round. This includes lawn care, pruning, planting, weeding and a general tidy up. Most our clients are residential and we like to treat their gardens like our own. You will need to work to a high standard, taking great care in leaving all our gardens looking immaculate. Customer service is also important. If a client is home being polite, friendly and making sure they are happy with the work being carried out is imperative.

Main Duties -

  • Grassed areas
  • This includes lawns, edgings and rough park grass. This may involve levelling uneven ground, hogging, re-turfing, re‐seeding, fertiliser, spiking, raking, cutting using the appropriate equipment etc.
  • Flower Beds (including greenhouses)
  • Preparing beds, propagating, planting out, tending and caring for flowering plants and shrubs, digging, pruning, weeding, fertilising and watering etc.
  • Hedges and Trees
  • Maintaining hedges, planting and pruning small trees, keeping

 

Vacancy Location: 1-3 Limes Court, Upper Green, Wolverhampton, WV6 8RZ.

Working Week: Monday – Friday. Hours to vary between 30 and 37.5hrs per week.

Training:

  • Level 2 NVQ in Horticulture
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English up to Level 2
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)                                              

 

Vacancy Type: Intermediate Level Apprenticeship

Duration: 18 months

Personality: Outgoing, friendly, polite, amenable, a positive attitude and work-ethic.

Qualifications: Ideally GCSE Grades A-C in Maths English and ICT or the equivalent.

Skills required:

  • Practical and not worried about getting their hands dirty.
  • Physically able (as there may be heavy lifting etc… involved)
  • Previous horticulture knowledge great, but not essential.

 

Future Prospects: As we’re a young growing business, there are potentially lots of prospects. With the first step up being Team leader in charge of a maintenance round and team.
