Our Purpose and Core Principles

At South Staffordshire College we work together to raise aspirations and success through excellence in all that we do whilst striving to achieve the best sustainable practices.

We focus on four Core Principles;

Togetherness – Respect and value all those we come into contact with
Standards – Consistently deliver the highest quality in all that we do
Sustainability – Promote the protection of our environment in our business activities
Customer Care – Put learners and customers at the heart of everything we do

School leavers and adults can take over 200 full-time and part-time work-based training courses and apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships

At South Staffordshire College, our students come first, and everything we do is aimed at helping you to realise your full potential and giving you a competitive edge in the job market.

If you’re a school leaver, you will be treated as an adult, within a friendly and supportive environment. You’ll enjoy more freedom and independence than previously and you’ll make many new friends. If you’re an adult, you may feel uneasy about returning to education or continuing on to Higher Education. We understand that and have a friendly learning support team whose objective is to assist you and generally make you feel at home here. And if you have a child, you may find our nursery facilities helpful!

Vocational Courses

As a community ‘super college’ we’re geared to meeting a very wide range of learning needs for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Many of the adult courses, for example, are held at convenient times for people who work.

By the way, our staff doesn’t consist of stuffy, old-fashioned academics – far from it. Our high quality teaching team have a tremendous amount of hands-on experience in industry and commerce, so they genuinely understand the relationship between what you learn and how that translates into the workplace environment.

Work-ready

We have a fantastic range of facilities that will enable you to learn within a real working scenario. These include catering venues, hair and beauty salons, a gym, an art gallery and a zoo.

There is easy access to our campuses, either via public transport or in our College-run buses, and you may even qualify for financial support for your transport costs. (Feel free to ask learner services about this).

Finally – and this is very important – we know that happy, motivated people learn more effectively, so we organise numerous trips and social events to encourage everyone to mix in and have fun as part of their college experience. These activities contribute towards making the time you spend here at South Staffordshire College enjoyable as well as highly rewarding.

  • Arran has attended an interview today, it was handled in a manner that can only be described as 'just right' . As Arrans family we are aware that we are on a journey, that will have a few hairpin bends yet to be negotiated, but I just wanted to let you know how well your college has handled Arrans application process and very importantly helped start rebuilding his self esteem.

  • Thank you for the very cordial welcome you gave when we visited your College. It was a pleasure to have such a positive view and response from you. It is an unfamiliar feeling to have been looked after by so many different professional people so well.
