About Us

We created South Staffordshire College by merging four established colleges: Lichfield, Cannock, Tamworth and Rodbaston. The four campuses can accommodate up to 20,000 full- and part-time students, of all ages from 14 to 54 - and much older! We have friendly, supportive staff (around 1,000 of them!) and fantastic facilities (including a nursery, gym, restaurants, an art gallery and, believe it or not, a zoo!). Above all, we have a commitment to ensure that you have a great time while you're here and leave equipped for a successful working life.

Forget any preconceptions you may have about colleges. South Staffordshire College is different. It's a new 'super college', designed to meet the needs of the local community. Our objective is to provide knowledge and skills that will help our students to succeed in an increasingly competitive workplace.

We understand that you need to learn real-life skills that equip you for the real world. So we work closely with local employers to develop 'hands-on' courses that enable you to gain the practical knowledge and confidence you need to make you an attractive employment proposition for local industry, commerce and other organisations.

Whether you're interested in bricklaying or bookkeeping, computing or counselling, horticulture or hospitality, we have hundreds of different courses, from certificate, to NVQ and degree level, to help you achieve your goals. Latest figures from The Data Service*, an independently managed organisation established and funded by the Government, has highlighted that South Staffordshire College is the most successful College in Staffordshire.

The most recent information published highlights South Staffordshire College occupying first place among all the county's College's for this age group across all qualifications, with a highly creditable success rate of 84.4% and an overall achievement score of 96.3%.

The Data Service was established and is funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to act as a single, central point of information for further education. Its % success rates are broadly defined as the number of 'learning aims' successfully completed against the number expected.

 
South Staffordshire College has seen its ratings improving since the last report and is particularly proud of being the highest ranked College in Staffordshire for 16-18 year olds in all qualifications. It is also shown as the best in the whole of the West Midlands on 'long' qualifications, that is courses of more than 24 weeks duration with a success rate of 85%. This puts South Staffordshire College at the head of a list of 18 across the West Midlands, including College's in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Burton and Stafford.

 And the success story doesn't stop there.  Students from South Staffordshire College are achieving outstanding results in regional and national competitions across the curriculums.  In the WorldSkills arena, students representing beauty, horticulture, accounting, cookery and floristry have competed at top level and for the second year running the College will have a student representing Team UK at the International final of WorldSkills London 2011.
